Fit in Five? A Review of Fit in Your Jeans By Friday

by Alissa

You all remember our post that Kim Kardashian was creating a fitness DVD, right? Well, guess what, we’ve got the copies to review just for you!

Kim Kardashian’s Fit in Your Jeans By Friday consists of three DVDs:

So here I am, attempting to “fit in my jeans by friday” and I’m going to let you all know the results. I didn’t really have any jeans that didn’t fit, but a pair that was particularly tight. I realized I have a wedding to go to this weekend that I want to looking fabulous for, so this week indeed was a good one to start with.

Initial Impressions:

Wary.  I’m not sure one week of doing something everyday will have a lot of effect – especially since I’ve hit that age where your weight doesn’t budge even if you eat nothing but salad for a month. (Knowing me, I’d gain weight!) Plus, I wasn’t sure how Kim Kardashian would come across as a “fitness icon” considering the amount of scrutiny she gets in the media’s eye. However, I did know that the girl’s butt gets more press than the President of the USA. So, with her coveted butt shape, I figured mine could use some work and she’s probably an authority on that for sure!

The BEFORE pictures:

I’m brave…very brave.

So, I’m thin, but I’ve got some muffin top (and a bad sunburn!) and these jeans could fit a little smoother.

After the first workout:

I chose to do the Ultimate Butt Body Scuplt section without the step block and the bonus material on the DVD. I don’t currently own a step, but I figured I can get an awesome workout without it too.

Omigosh. I’m not usually a fan of fitness DVDs, but this one kicked my Kim Kardashian-style butt.

What I liked:

  • The moves reminded me of a lot of the SELF Challenge or Body By Glamour Workouts. The ones that go fast and combine a little cardio and strength to get the fat burning and the muscles working. I’ve had a lot of success with this style of workout.
  • The pace is great. Not to fast where you can’t keep up (or ultimately giving up, like I do!), but fast enough that this is still a challenge!
  • Kim Kardashian comes across as sweet and actually kind of motivational because you see her struggle with some of the moves too. You realize she’s not super human fit and that if she can do it, so can you.
  • Jennifer Galardi is fantastic as well. One thing I remember her and Kim reminding us is that we need to tuck under our tailbones and pull the belly buttons up! Many women seem to forget this and it makes your workout 3x more effective. I remember doing some moves from a magazine once thinking they were so easy, but once you tuck and suck, whew – you’re in for a whole new workout! You’ll feel muscles working that you never thought you had!
  • The music in the intro is upbeat and kind of motivating. It’s cheesy at points through the DVD but isn’t distracting.

What I didn’t like:

  • Kim looked good but her outfits and the set didn’t really mesh. I noticed a iMac, an old fireplace, a rack of clothes and Kim’s futuristic/80’s outfits. None of them seemed cohesive, but really – who looks for that other than me?
  • I was dissapointed I needed a step. That’s something I’d have to go buy. I know they are highly effective, but I’m not a fan of keeping a ton of excercise equipment around my house – it makes a lot of clutter.
  • There are three different DVDs and you very well could just buy the one you want to focus on most. But, in a way, they are all marketed together. I was a little confused as to which segments I should do everyday for effectiveness. I think if they would release a Fit in Your Jeans By Friday DVD version 2.0, it would be beneficial to give a workout “guide” as most fitness DVDs provide.

Stay tuned for Friday and more pictures…
