get Wet and Habitwise – Review/Giveaway

by Staff

The whole, “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks” theory is out the window.  I am the first to admit – I STINK at getting in a proper amount of water each day. Forget the 6-8 glasses, I’m lucky if you can catch me drinking water more than once a day, sometimes twice if I’m extra thirsty.  It’s crazy, I know. I’ve tried and tried to get more fluids in, but until recently – not much worked.

Habitwise

I came across this amazing website called Habitwise, “Making Healthy a Habit”, and they were kind enough to share get WET for Women with me.  This plan allows me to track my total water intake, by moving the bracelets from one wrist to another, as the day goes on and as I consume more and more servings.

During my first week, I was very attentive and made sure I got 6-8 bracelets moved over during the day.  It was pretty much a mental game making sure I met my goal. My goal was to have 4-5 done by the end of the work day, so that I could count the ones at home as a ‘bonus’.  I realize that 6-8 isn’t ideal for most people, but for me, someone who barely gets one or two services of fluids a day, it’s a LOT. So I went with baby steps.

My coworkers started noticing at lunch I’d slide my bracelet over from one wrist to the other, even my students noticed. So I was being held accountable by the end of the day if someone would notice that my right wrist was looking a bit bare. It was great!

They have options for kids, men and women – so let break them down for ya.  The women’s programs use bracelets, while the mens use little tokens to transfer from pocket to pocket as the day goes on.

  • get WET  for Women and Men
  • get LOSS for Women and Men
  • get MOXIE for girls (all ages).  This one is just awesome, and I can think of two friends I’d love to share this with.  get MOXIE is about inspiring girls to achieving happiness, by tracking positive thoughts throughout the day.  This is a GREAT concept for someone who just needs a little boost, someone with low self esteem, or someone who just needs a little pink cheeriness in their day!
  • get TRACKING for Kids – using the food groups, monitoring servings and exercise with the colored rubber bracelets (more durable than the women’s options!)

These vary between $16-$28, and they’re an amazing gift.  If you’ve got a friend, family member or co-worker that is looking to change their lifestyle and work towards overall wellness, consider this for the holidays. It’s a great way to let them know you’re there for them.

Water is one thing I get plenty of! My body really gets mad if I don’t! I drink at LEAST 64 ounces a day…usually more like 96..not including my coffee in the morning.

But for those who don’t…I LOVE this idea!
Stopping by from SITS!
